EVENING PLENARY MEETING OF THE SECOND SESSION OF THE VERKHOVNA RADA OF UKRAINE OF THE SIXTH CONVOCATION WAS HELD ON THURSDAY, 6 MARCH
At the beginning of the meeting Arseniy Yatseniuk, the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, informed the People´s Deputies of motions, submitted at the Conciliative Council, regarding supplementing the agenda with two Bills on amending Article 80 of the Constitution of Ukraine (re abolishment of deputy´s immunity) and three Draft Resolutions on creation of temporary inquiry panels.
In the result of the voting the motions were rejected.
The People´s Deputies resolved to consider the ratification issues by a shortened procedure. At first, the parliament members discussed and ratified the Resolution on introducing Amendments and Supplements to the Decisions on the Anti-terrorist Center of the Participating States of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
Then they ratified the Agreement between Ukraine and the Republic of Slovakia on Promotion and Mutual Protection of Investments. The Agreement will promote development of promising trends of international investment cooperation.
The Verkhovna Rada ratified the International Labour Organization Convention on Hours of Work and Rest Periods in Road Transport (№ 153 of Year 1979). The Convention (Reg. No.0006) is applicable to the hired drivers who are either employed at enterprises that perform freightage for the third parties, or at the enterprises that transport freight or passengers at their own expense on the vehicles used professionally for domestic or international motor transportation of freight or passengers.
Afterwards the People´s Deputies considered the Bill on Ratification of the European Convention on the Non-Applicability of Statutory Limitations to Crimes against Humanity and War Crimes.
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine ratified the Agreement between Ukraine and the Republic of Hungary on Mutual Protection of Information with Restricted Access.
The People´s Deputies adopted the Bill "On Ukraine´s joining the International Convention on Protection of Non-Material Cultural Heritage" by 271 votes. The Convention defines the terms "non-material cultural heritage", goals and bodies of the Convention, functions and methods of work of the International Committee on Protection of Non-Material Cultural Heritage, terms and forms of providing international assistance in the said field.
The Verkhovna Rada ratified the Agreement between Georgia and Ukraine on Simplified Procedure for Acquisition and Termination of Citizenship for Citizens of Georgia Residing Permanently in Ukraine and Citizens of Ukraine Residing Permanently in Georgia, as well as on Prevention of Statelessness and Double Citizenship.
The People´s Deputies ratified the Protocol to the Agreement on Partnership and Cooperation between Ukraine and European Communities and their Member States on Accession of the Republic of Bulgaria and Romania to the APC by 399 votes.
The Verkhovna Rada ratified European Convention on Recognition and Enforcement of Decisions concerning Custody of Children and on Restoration of Custody of Children.
The People´s Deputies also ratified the Statute of the GUAM Organization for Democracy and Economic Development. The Statute defines goals and principles of cooperation between the member States of the said international organization, its structure and main orientation of its activity.
After all the People´s Deputies considered and ratified the Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union on defining a General Scheme of Ukraine´s Participation at the EU Missions for Regulation Crisis Situations.
Then the evening plenary meeting was closed.
